About Me
Hey, I’m Jonathan Davila, photographer, educator, and owner of iLA Film Lab, now based in Amherst, Massachusetts. I started iLA in 2021 with a simple goal, to make film photography accessible, hands-on, and welcoming to anyone curious about it.
Teaching is a big part of who I am. I'm a college professor, teaching darkroom printing and film photography. That mindset carries into everything I do here, whether it is a workshop, a conversation, or how I handle your film.
I have been developing and scanning film for years, and I take that seriously. Every roll of film and every VHS tape is treated as if they were my own. There is a level of care and attention that comes with that, and I do not take it lightly.
iLA is more than just a lab. It is a space for photographers, artists, and anyone curious about analog to learn, experiment, and feel comfortable doing it.
When I am not in the lab, I am usually out shooting, spending time with my wife and our two dogs, or thinking about what is next.
